As Sure as the Dawn

2nd Corinthians 4:16

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day."

My husband and I bought a small, small house when we were first married. It was over 50 years old, and it's owner had been using it as a hunting cabin. So needless to say it was old and worn and in need of much repair.

So it began, we put alot of effort into that little place. Walls were torn out and replaced with insulation and new drywall. An old wood stove that sat directly front and center of our 600square feet of living space was removed and recycled to a family who needed the heat source. We put in new windows and skylights, redid the kitchen and added a laundry room. The transformation was slowly taking place, our little hunting cabin was becoming a home.

At one point, he made the comment that people probably thought we were crazy for putting such an effort into a tiny little house. Most would not have taken the time to see the potential or would much rather, move into a ready made home with all the extras. Yet, we both loved that place. Every ounce of effort was exerted with love and careful consideration . And even though you couldn't see it from the distance, there was a major reconstruction going on inside.

I can see the similarity in our own lives. Our bodies are often beaten down over the years and our hearts are weary and worn. But Praise God, He comes in and reconstructs our inside. Others might see the work as unessential, but God never gives up on our small frames. He always begins within. My husband could see the beauty and had captured the vision before I recognized the potential.

Our Heavenly Father sees our beauty, and recognizes it as well. He sees our potential, long before we recognize who it is, we can become.

And so, it begins with us as well, slowly at times and always piece by piece. Sometimes entire walls must be torn down before we can even begin to build something new. From the outside you cannot always tell that there is a difference. Yet, as sure as the dawn...the transformation is taking place.

Just for this moment look at where you once were...and thank God that He didn't leave you that way. He is the Visionary for your life. And He is the only One who will lovingly complete the reconstruction.

Jeremiah 29: 11-13

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity."
