"Running with the Thoroughbreds" --------

High expectations, lists, and visions of change...are on the horizon.
And so it is with great enthusiasm, that we propel ourselves forward.

The beginning of a race is often begun with great enthusiasm
and we often treat New Years day like a Thoroughbred leaving the starting gate.
Fast and furious, Determined to win.

Coming out of the gate, a thouroughbred will accelerate to 40 miles-per-hour in six strides. These finely trained animal's have much to teach us.
They are known for their agility, speed and spirit.
The Thoroughbred is courageous and alert.
And interestingly enough, all North American Thoroughbred foals have the official birth date of January 1st
no matter when they are born.

I find this so interesting, considering the beginning of this new year
can essentially mean a new birth for so many of us, as well.
It is a chance to begin again.

And besides, no one wants to be just another horse.
If we did, then we wouldn't make so many resolutions.
Deep inside we hope this will be the year, when everything turns around!!

And, so with  our resolutions in hand, we make our own run for the roses...

Yet, how do we keep the momentum going, when the resolutions fade in our memory and determination is replaced with..a sigh'...???

I believe we must run the race, like we are the only one running...
We need blinders, in the sense that we too need to stay focused on the task at hand.
We will continue to move forward and stay on track....when we remember the vision.
Recognizing that there will be ups and downs and even a few false starts will allow us to run a strong and steady race.
Even though a Thoroughbred may share the same birthday as the New Year,
Thoroughbreds never 'just happen'...
Nor, are resolutions ever....just .... and simply kept...!!

It is with determination that you can run the race set before you,
and it is by His grace, that you will be able to cross the finish line.

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." 1 Corinthians 9:24
