"A Restless Spirit"

"I'm 50 years old...and I don't know my Fathers voice"
Her eyes were downcast when she spoke the words. ...
When she lifted her face toward her friends...they were filled with shimmering tears...
As she turned away.
her trusted friends acknowledged with quiet nods.....understanding an all too familiar pang of the human heart.

We have been there...
truthfully,
we are all there.....often enough...
living...
just out of touch.. with Him...

The world seeks to replace life's harmony with noise.
It's no wonder we do not recognize His voice.

The still small whisper we long to hear is drowned out...
with racing thoughts,
gadgets,
plans
and words,..so many useless words...

And yet...
we must not mistake that there is a time for all things..
"a time to be silent and a time to speak"...(Ecc 3:7)

When trying to hear our Fathers voice..
Notice this...
First comes a time to be silent...

Silence is puzzling and sometimes met with awkwardness,
until..there is acceptance and appreciation.
Silence is a gift to be pondered.
A beauty to behold.
A treasure to be cherished.

A restless spirit will find its rhythm
in the silence and in the speaking from the pattern
we see in the first chapter of the Bible..

God sets the tone for the balance and harmony we seek,
when He created all of the universe.
He alone sets the standard for how we might hear His voice..
and indeed the ability to recognize it.

"In the beginning God...
(Elohim-meaning Creator, Mighty and Strong)
created the heavens and the earth.

"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."
(Gen 1:1, 2)

Notice it was 'after'
His Spirit hovered, that He spoke.
It was 'after' the silence...
that our Creator!
Mighty and Strong.
Spoke creation into existence.

It is a harmonious rhythmic pattern that began with silence and then His voice.
This pattern of silence and then speaking is very apparent in the first chapter of Genesis.
God.... (Elohim's) trusted creation nodded in agreement as it became submissive to His voice.

Are you nodding with me?
Are you beginning to recognize in humble submission..

Can you hear His soft whisper caressing your soul with a harmony that can only be found when we learn to recognize His voice in the silence?

Remember:
When trying to hear our Father's voice..
First comes the time to be silent...in order to listen.

Application:
Follow His pattern.
You will begin to hear His soft cadence.
Be still and wait....
If you struggle to recognize His voice
Be still and listen in the silence...

Ecclesiastes 3:11
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. "
