As the political climate heats up....It is vital to understand who you are and why you believe what you believe.
I have friends and family who are in direct opposition to my beliefs as well as my political position. I am thankful that I live in a society as a whole, where we can have our own beliefs......
However,.....sometimes, I am at an utter loss,...that who we say we are in this world, never seems to add up to equal, who we say we are in Christ.
How we can say we believe something, or that we believe in someone,...when we have not the foggiest idea of their history or their past.
Often we have no idea of their past or histiory, simply because we have not taken the time to do our homework....
We haven't checked their voting records.
We haven't even taken the time to see when and why they abstained from voting or even what that means.
We simply vote, because of some well edited and biased commercial. If they are polished and well groomed...we fall quickly and easily into the trap of apathy and 'oh well' or we jump on the bandwagon and follow the well rehearsed speeches.
If their words are eloquent and laced with smiles of affection..or if the people in the commercial look like us...then it must be true...????
Or, if the news anchor says so, then we act as though it is gospel....!!
Their decisions and our decision to vote for them will be upon us, when we stand humbly at the judgement seat of Christ. We will be held responsible for our one vote.
The Gospel...(literally means 'Good News'..as derived from the Greek language..)
Why on earth are we allowing ourselves to be duped into believing in someone...because they "say' they are speaking the truth. What standard do you use to figure out who you are and why you believe what you believe ?? IF you are using the Holy Scriptures, then a new light WILL begin to shine on your political leanings!!!!! Look to the LIGHT when you seek to find the truth and long to expose the darkness.... 'Their decisions...... and our decision to vote for them,...will be upon us,... when we stand humbly at the judgement seat of Christ. We will be held responsible for our one vote.' (stay tuned for part two)...hint..read Psalm 139 to begin.. |
