Psalm 18:16
"He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters"
Benji, my four year old 'puppy' is laying at my feet...
He is looking at me with big brown eyes...His biggest concern seems to be making sure I don't leave the room without him.
He feels secure when I am near.
I recall at my brothers house, watching my sister-in-law Mary, playing with her granddaughter,
(my then, year and a half old great niece).
Soon the little one was toddling ahead of her grandma towards the deep waters of the pool...
Mary followed closely behind her...always scooping her up as soon as she came even too close, to the edge.
Again and again...
My niece didn't realize the danger around her and didn't even know enough to trust her to save her.
But my loving sister-in-law knew just when,...to save her from herself.
But my loving sister-in-law knew just when,...to save her from herself.
Isn't it amazing how life offers us irony?
Sometimes, I feel like Benji
and I just need to 'be'.
I want to curl up, in my heavenly Father's lap and rest easy...knowing He is near...
Contentment, peace and rest without wondering.
At other times, similar to my niece, I am oblivious to my own wandering and my need for His saving touch.
I wander aimlessly and often am found toddling near the edge of deep waters...
and then at just the right moment He lovingly reaches out to me and sweeps me up and away from danger.
Much like my niece, I don't even realize how many times he has saved me from myself.
The Bible is pretty clear on the fact, that He loves us in spite of the way we see ourselves or others...
and He loves us in a way that we cannot comprehend.
and He loves us in a way that we cannot comprehend.
Romans 5:6-8
"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us"
Will you choose with me today to simply rest...knowing He is near....
thankful for the many times unaware,
that He has been a quiet presence in your life.
Will you remember?..
There have been countless times
He has reached down, from on high,
taken hold of us....
and rescued us, unaware..from many deep waters...
and rescued us, unaware..from many deep waters...
Application: I will spend time in reflection today and talk to my Father.
I will remember that HE is always faithful.
Remember: It is ultimately His goodness that will prevail-even in the pain.
His rescue is imminent.
Your "Deliverer" is coming....take a moment..and allow this song to remind you, that INDEED..
Your deliverer is standing by and HE is coming.
