"What Happens When You Get Honest?"

I feel like I have been wandering in the desert for 40 years when it comes to our finances.

I know there is a way beyond financial strain.
But still I murmur.,
I complain and I wander...
I fail to budget monthly..
even though I know, it is a ticket to freedom, to track and mange our daily spending.

In Exodus, we can find the story of the Israelite's wandering.
What should have been an 11 day journey to the Promised Land...lasted 40 long and arduous years. I am certain, there were many things on their  'list' they failed to do, causing them to wander as they did.
I wonder how much we are like them?

It seems many of us have a bucket list that we have never gotten around to,
as well as a daily 'to-do' list that manages to escape us on a regular basis.

Of course, some of us do better than others.
Sometimes we even feel inflated at the thought that we are doing well for ourselves.
It is easy to point a finger at others when they mess up.
But the Word of God is very clear that we ought never, to think too highly of ourselves. (Romans 12:3)
And in I Corinthians 10:12 we are encouraged that...'if we think we are standing firm, to be careful, lest we fall.'

According to CNN and Yahoo Finance, 76% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. So, it stands to reason that for my American readers...3 out of 4 people who read this are wandering with me in this desert.
As much as I dislike admitting this, it is time we all get honest with ourselves.

I believe in order to truly break free from our burdens, whether it be financial or otherwise.
We must truly humble ourselves before God.
Ask Him to lead.
And be willing to do things differently if we want different results.

Will you commit to prayer this week?
Will you get honest with the very God who made you?
He already knows your struggles. But, He will never force you to His Way.
Position yourself to hear from Him.

Ask Him, what steps you need to take to come back into a right relationship.
He is willing to heal us in EVERY way.
He is more than able to take you by the hand and lead you, to your promised land.

This is so much more than seeking financial blessing.
It is coming to a right relationship with HIM as well as the gifts He gives,
so that,...
you can become a blessing to Him and to others.

Application:
Maybe you are wandering in the wilderness. Maybe, it is more than financial.
Regardless, when you choose to put HIM at the top of your 'to do' list, it is then that the pieces will fall into place.
Get honest with Him...!!
Order restored.
Hope renewed.

Remember: When you understand that He really does love you IN your wilderness,
you will then be able to trust Him,....to lead you out of it.

  1. Thanks for the reminder my dear friend. It seems life gets in the way of our relationship way too easily. It should not be so very hard to stay focused on our Glorious God but Satan is very good at putting up obstacles. Your words reminded me how often I fall but God will pick me up and lead me home.
