"Cast your burden on the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved"
Psalm 55 :22

Some things you just can't 'undo'.
If you are a 'fixer' this is a hard concept to grasp.
You see, fixers like to fix!
It makes them feel more in control of their lives.
Oh, I am certain there are deep seeded reasons we are all the way we are.
There are personality studies, temperament studies, lifestyle studies, and etc.
Each study serves a purpose and allow us to dig a bit deeper into the 'psyche'.
We begin to understand what makes us tick when we look past the surface.
Me, I'm a thinker.
I love words, the study of words, communicating and listening and watching and learning about life simply by paying attention.
And, yes I've 'been' a fixer.
Though, I have to say,
I have come a long way.
So, today I have been thinking about those of us who are or have been fixers.
Having moved through some of the fixing tendencies, I feel like I have earned the right to say this.
To all of the fixers out there, it is 'way past time' to let it go!!!!!
The burdens you carry, serve one purpose alone and that is to simply be "a burden that 'you' are carrying".
If you never lay the burden down, you'll never feel the release of the weight.
The best part, is when you willingly release the burden you realize that it was never really yours to begin with.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Really, let it sink in.
Really, let it sink in.
Think of something or someone you have been trying to fix.
You have carelessly left fingerprints everywhere.
Then picture this;
Strong and kind hands gently reaching to take your struggle. Raising your eyes
You see your burden being lifted and released to His quick and sure ways.
It is in this moment that you finally understand that GOD alone has always known
the depth of the situation and can change things in ways you only dreamed.
the depth of the situation and can change things in ways you only dreamed.
SO, Why Not.
Why not leave it with Him
to work alone.
He is big enough to handle all of Creation and big enough to handle the tiniest of details.
The truth is, His fingerprints have been precisely and intentionally placed throughout your life and theirs.
His touch is evident.
He has been, and always will be exactly where He needs to be
in your life and especially
in the life of those
for whom you carry a burden.
He is working out all things for your good and His glory,
all the while scooping you each closer to Himself at the same time.
I certainly can't undo anything, and that's fine with me.
And neither can any of us.
I never have been very good at fixing, because it was
never my job,
but it is God's.
He is always at work and when He leaves His fingerprint,
it is very intentional.
I'll probably always be a thinker and maybe even a bit of a fixer.
But just like you, we are works in progress.
He gently reminds us, it is
"way past time" to lay the burden down.
Let it go.
Trust Him to work alone.
And as you lay it down, you will feel the release of the weight; and the sweet relenting peace of losing control to the
only One Who ever had it.
Whatever you are carrying,
give it to Him.
And He will agree
to carry all of the weight
for you.
Why?
Because He can.
And He loves you and them precious ones more
than you can imagine.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
