"Something Has To Change"

"He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much...." -Luke 16:10a

I really don't like to talk about money or money management.
The word 'budget' has always been about a chain that keeps me, rather than a key that releases me.

And the truth of the matter is, money management  does matter!!!
If you are accruing some debt a little at at a time or a lot of debt fast.

Of course there are some of us who are already debt free.

However, some..(and probably most of us)...have DEBT... (credit cards, car loans ,school loans, home equity loans..and more). You name it and we have figured out a reason why we had to borrow.
Most have decided that it is just a way of life.
And maybe it is a way of life for some, but not for those who seek to be FREE. Life doesn't have to be that way.
We do not have to be imprisoned by old habits!!!

Freedom is sweetly liberating, when you finally make the decision to change course.
And so we have.

Recently, we went through Financial Peace University (a course offered through a man named Dave Ramsey that gives a thought out, easy to understand and well explained plan to financial independence and 'peace').http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/locate-classes

We were so hesitant at first, we didn't have the time, didn't have the money, etc.
Finally, after all the excuses and no change on the horizon, we took the course and learned a great deal about ourselves and how very enslaved we had become to others because of a thousand little decisions we had made along the way.

So now, we are in the midst of the process, of rethinking and trying to dig back out from some of those decisions. One of the first steps was sitting down and putting a number to our debt. That was a freeing and oddly empowering moment.

Finally, we realized that debt always has a beginning and  fortunately can have an end !!!

The class was a small fee...
The money we have already saved is adding up...
The support of our classmates and especially the teacher of the class has been invaluable.

Bob and I coming together in prayer and with a plan,
then settling ourselves together as a team at the foot of the cross trying to gain some financial peace, priceless.

We are slow in learning...but we are learning.

I never really could imagine living debt-free. Now, it seems like there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know, it could be worse and it could be better.
It doesn't really matter, that we are ALL in financially different places.
What matters is when we realize we don't know where our money is going, that we become willing to make some changes,to break out of the mold we find ourselves in.

Make the decision with me, to 'not' be satisfied 'not' knowing where your money went.
Do what it takes, break the habit of complacency, and make the change toward freedom,
because when you do, that is exactly what you will have more of...;)

Ephesians 5:15
"Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise."
